Thanks also for the PSD, as this way I could cut it back to 1280×800 and then scale to 1680×1050 (I don’t know it this would be the right procedure in this case? I’m so not into Photoshop…) for my widescreen monitor.

You probably shouldn’t scale the whole image, because it’d warp the graphic. Instead just scale the canvas in photoshop to the desired size and reposition the graphic.
